Here's my top ten time-wasters while I wait for opening night on May 17...
10. Watch the trailers a million times on You Tube
9. Follow #startrek on Twitter and smirk at tweets only true long-term ST geeks will get at @TNG_S8
8. Watch Star Trek (2009) again. Just one more time.
7. Dream up Star Trek / Star Wars mashups now that JJ Abrams is in charge of both
6. Order Spock ears and matching wig to wear at opening night (only $12.99)
5. Imagine possible ways Next Generation, Voyager and Deep Space Nine characters could be included with the rebooted original characters
4. Discover things like Star Trek onesies on Pinterest and wonder how many people understand why you'd never buy the red one for your baby
3. Get absolutely giddy reading a movie review that says there's "an "Inception"-indebted freefall sequence that sees the crew negotiating gravity-shifting practical sets"
2. Read other Star Trek top ten lists like "Top Ten Star Trek technologies that actually came true" at How Stuff Works (where you can feel both geeky-happy and maybe-not-completely-wasting-your-time-because-you-are-actually-learning-stuff)
1. Consider a road trip to a city that is releasing the movie early
Are you eagerly awaiting the new Star Trek movie? Or what movie would you rather wait breathlessly for instead?
I'm looking forward to the next installment, for sure. Told my husband that we will be having a dinner date that day, lol! Got no arguments from him. And I'd love to see some of the characters from other Star Trek series on the big screen--why not?

My sister and I are planning on taking our mom to see the movie as a graduation present. SO much better than flowers or chocolate!
ReplyDeletePart of me would love to see a Voyager or TNG reboot, but on the other hand ... I don't think I'm quite ready to see Janeway and Picard played by any else but Kate Mulgrew and Patrick Stewart. They can redo DS9 anytime, though. I was never that attached to any of those characters.
Can you believe I've never seen ANYTHING Star Trek related? Maybe it's time I jumped on board!
ReplyDeleteAwww lovely Margo!!! I'm am so seeing it in lovely imax, 3D, bestest seats come Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I. CANNOT. WAIT!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFor once I am wishing this weekend away!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!
p.s. love the ST baby grows!! Take care

I'm looking forward to it! I'm not sure if we'll see it in the theater or just wait a few months for Netflix, but either way I'm excited to see it. Just last night I was saying to my husband how I sure hope food replicators and holodecks will be invented in my lifetime, lol. Of the two, I want a food replicator the most!! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy reading and writing! from Laura Marcella @ Wavy Lines
No way. It has not been 4 years. !!! That's insane. But then, I guess a lot has happened since the last movie... Wow. Okay, so I'm all for the Star Wars/Star trek mesh-a-thon. Let's get to it, eh?
ReplyDeleteI didn't care for the first movie, but I'm DYING to see this one. It has more of Simeon Pegg who is a brilliant actor, and of course the villain is played by Benedict Cumberbach, another great actor. And the plot looks REALLY cool. I'm taking my mum for Mother's Day, so I'm hoping to go opening day with her.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I hadn't realized that it had been four years... That sort of blows my mind.
ReplyDeleteNow off to watch the trailer again!
Thank goodness i have Iron Man 3 to hold me over. Just bought blurays of the original movie collection. Ricardo Montal-Khan here I come.
ReplyDeleteVery Cute! I miss the old days when my kids needed dad to get them to the movies. Now they are 15 and nearly 19 and attend midnight showings that I'm too pooped to stay up for. *laughs* Yes, Margo, I am looking forward to the new film. The good news is I'll probably still see it with my oldest. I think he saw the last one three times.

This is awesome! I'm afraid I'm not a Trekkie, but hilarious about the red onesie. Maybe I'd add "Watch the Audi (I think) commercial with Leonard Nemoy and his younger self ( whose name I can't remember)
ReplyDeleteJust discovered I can comment if I use my iPhone!
ReplyDeleteHere's one more to pass the time - a commercial featuring the new Spock and the old Spock.
